A different kind of island escape

We curate thoughtful, small-scale travel experiences that connect you to the island’s people, traditions, and rhythms—without the crowds or clichés. This isn’t mass tourism; it’s a quiet invitation to experience the real Terceira, at your own pace.

  • For me, the story begins when my avós left the Açores, like many others, in search of a different life.

Life on the islands hasn't always looked the way it does today—a stunning destination captured by wide-angle lenses and drones. In fact, my avós barely have any photos from their youth. They recall feeling awkward in front of the cameras brought by those from the nearby military base. Less than 50 years ago, many people on the islands lived in deep poverty, often leaving school at a young age to support their families through farming or manual labor.

As generations return year after year, they witness the islands' rapid transformation. It was once typical to use donkeys for transportation, common to raise chickens and collect eggs, and not unusual for people to never learn to swim—despite living in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

These details skim the surface of the ways of life that have shaped our identity and culture - a starting point for the journey we want to share with you.

  • I’m an artist and curator with over a decade of experience in tourism and cultural policy across Ontario, Canada—exploring and sharing stories that connect people in meaningful ways.

Following in the footsteps of my avós, I’ve returned to Terceira to embrace a slower, more rooted life—one shaped by community, heritage, and everyday beauty.

I’d love to share this journey with you.
